Join me in supporting real change. Help us create a pathway out of homelessness for these youth by supporting StandUp for Kids.
I have been volunteering with StandUp For Kids in Worcester for 6 years. Outreach counselors do street outreach looking for homeless and at risk youths twice a week, giving them food, informing them of the free services available. We help the youths get into housing, education programs and jobs. We opened an Outreach Drop In Center in March of 2014 where we can offer more services including hot meals, showers, laundry facilities, clothing closet, hygiene items, bus passes and consistent caring adults. Classes given on Healthy Relationships, Nutrition, Stress Reduction and health issues. A nurse and a Mental Health Counselor are available once a week.
We had one youth that was living with a friend, when we met him, and the landlord kicked him out, then he was living in the woods. He was only 17 and his goal was to go to school. He earned his HS diploma and is currently taking college classes and supporting himself. He is now 23 and happy.
Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for StandUp for Kids.
